Biography

Storm Jay Norman is an American-born songwriter, composer, and music producer from the southeastern United States. His music reflects a nomadic lifestyle with driving percussive hype, entrancing guitar riffs, and lyric rich melodies. With roots in guitar and voice, Storm’s motivations to write music began at an early age. Inspired by the 90’s punk rock & hip hop artists of the time, beatboxing, electric guitar, and garageband quickly became hobbies. As his curiosity continued, he began to explore a multitude of other genres. From Indie to classical, jazz, metal, EDM and so on, Storm went deep into the rabbit hole of artists like Radiohead, Modest Mouse, and Gorillaz, as well as music icons like Jimi Hendrix, Coltrane, and Sinatra. Around 2006, Storm began studying classical guitar when he was introduced to the music of Leo Brouwer, Nikita Koshkin, and Francisco Tárrega. He was immediately turned on to the power of nylon strings. Although he loved electric guitars and steel strings alike, the sweet tonal range, clarity, and smoothness that he found on the nylon-string guitar was unmatchable. Over time the instrument became his favorite songwriting companion. Storm is now based in Austin, TX where he writes, records, and produces his music, and regularly performs around the city. Listen on the go and travel to new planes of existence.
