Singer-songwriter
Emily McLoud is a folk/Americana singer-songwriter based in Austin, TX, whose music blends folk, bluegrass, and traditional country influences with deeply personal, poetic storytelling. With a voice that carries both melancholy and hope, her songs explore themes of self-discovery, resilience, motherhood, and relationships—offering listeners a sense of connection and shared humanity.
Emily’s musical roots trace back to childhood, where she began with piano before falling in love with the violin. She grew up immersed in classical music, performing with the prestigious Greater Houston Youth Orchestra and competing at the regional and state level. After years of performing in bands and duos throughout her 20s and 30s, Emily took a decade-long pause to raise a family. Her return to music began with the release of her debut solo EP in late 2022, marking a powerful new chapter in her artistic journey.
Since then, she has released four singles—including her most recent, Fork and Spoon—with more on the horizon. In summer 2025, Emily completed her first full-length album recorded at The Finishing School in Austin, collaborating with Gordy Quist and Darden Smith. Slated for release in early fall 2025, the album further establishes her place in the modern Americana landscape.
Emily’s past performances include a residency at the renowned Cactus Cafe and an opening slot for Mandolin Orange (now Watchhouse). Offstage, her work as a palliative care and hospice nurse practitioner profoundly shapes her songwriting. Bearing witness to life’s most intimate and vulnerable moments, she writes with an acute awareness of gratitude and the fragile beauty of human connection. “A problem shared is a problem halved, and a joy shared is a joy doubled,” she says. “My hope is that my music falls on the ears that need it most.”
